Midsummer Resolutions

At the beginning of the year, I wrote about New Year’s resolutions. So how are they going? Are you doing what you “resolved” to do, or have you forgotten exactly what you had planned to do in the first place? I know, it isn’t easy following through with those resolutions, is it?

Right now we’re just past the halfway point of the year. If you’re like me, you might be wishing that you could hit the reset button and jump back to the first of January. Now while we can’t exactly go back in time, we can hit the reset button on our lives. After all, we are made new in Christ every day. All we have to do is step out of the past and into the bright hope of tomorrow. We just need to refocus our lives and follow after God.

Personally, I see a lot of areas in my life where I need to improve. If I don’t start working on them, they’re just going to get worse and worse. Sure, I could wait for the next New Year to roll around, but why waste all that time? It’s best to fix the problem now rather than let it continue.

So, is it going to be easy to refocus our lives? Nope. It’s still going to be just as hard, if not harder, than it was back in January. But no one ever said the Christian life was easy. We can overcome the things we desire to overcome, and we can accomplish the things we want to accomplish. But if we don’t start now, when will we? Just like before, I challenge you not to wait, but to start now!
