The Peaceful Outdoors
So I was walking by the Campanile after chapel earlier this week when I noticed two large holes that had been dug in the grass. My thoughts ran wild, and I imagined that they were building a tiger trap right here on campus. I was just thinking how much fun it would be to stay up late in hopes of catching one, when I remembered learning in General Biology about tigers and how they are native only to Asia. Too bad. It would have been fun to have a pet tiger. Perhaps I could use it to catch a Campus Cat, they're kinda like tigers... Anyway, I later found out that the holes were for two new palm trees.
This little incident got me thinking about how much we take the campus landscaping for granted. We walk past it every day, and yet we rarely pay any attention to it. I remember way back in high school seeing photos advertising the college, and thinking Wow, that campus looks incredible! A few years later and here I am, a junior, and I often forget how about the beauty of the campus.
I think that when we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of academics, we often forget to look around and observe the beauty that God has placed in our lives. Try to make an effort this semester to just relax and enjoy God's Creation. It'll help take some of the stress out of your day!
