College Life

'Tis the Season

I don’t know about you, but I love Christmas! It is the best time of year! People get a little nicer, stores are decorated prettier, radios play those classic Christmas tunes, and somehow things just seem better during the special season.

One of my concerns about coming to college was that I would not get to fully enjoy Christmas. However, with a little thought and creativity, I’ve found that it can be wonderfully enjoyed on a college campus. Here are a few tips of things I have learned that can help you enjoy the Christmas season at your home away from home.

  1. Turn up the Christmas music. I don’t know about you, but nothing gets me more in the Christmas mood than listening to Christmas music. So turn up those tunes and listen to music that will remind you of the real meaning of Christmas.
  2. Decorate! Despite the Florida weather and the fact that we probably won’t see any snow down here, we can still decorate with snowmen and snowflakes. So get your roommates together and decorate your room for the Christmas season!
  3. Give gifts. One of the great things about Christmas is giving gifts! There’s just something about putting the thought into getting something special for someone else. So whether it’s your prayer group, between you and roommates, or even your best friend, give someone a gift that will help you get into the holiday spirit.
  4. Keep focused. It is easy to lose the real meaning of Christmas amid the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Do not let that happen to you. Even during the hectic times that come at the end of the semester, take a few moments every once in a while and reflect on, our Savior, the true meaning of Christmas!

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
