Mom's Words of Wisdom

"Clean your room. Pick up your clothes. Put your shoes away." Maybe these are some phrases that you heard growing up. Moms are really good about getting us to clean our rooms! So what happens when you come to college and Mom isn't necessarily there to tell you to clean up every day? Well, we have some RA's who tell us to declutter and wash the sink, but the biggest cleaning event here on campus is White Glove. White Glove is just one evening when we all have to clean our rooms exquisitely.

So what sort of things will you need to prepare for White Glove? Here are a few tips:

1. Make sure you have enough supplies. You know, cleaners, paper towels. For some of us, it might be time for a trip to the store. Having everything you need will help you make sure you clean well.

2. Allow a little time for fun. Every year, my roommates and I get a pizza and take a break to eat. Enjoy the time that you get to spend with your roommates and make the best of the night!

3. Make sure you have a good attitude. Most of us wouldn't say that cleaning is our favorite thing in the world to do, but it has to be done. Philippians 2:14 says, "Do all things without murmurings and disputings."

See, all those years that your mom spent teaching you to clean up your stuff will really pay off...if you listened. You still have to clean even when you get out of the house. Just enjoy the evening, get it done quick, and make sure you do it well!
