Counting Down the Days

Each spring the seniors count down the days to graduation in many ways. One of the first ways is senior t-shirt delivery. The day before the senior class party, the seniors who ordered t-shirts are able to pick them up. We all agree that the shirts are awesome this year! They display our class verse, which is Psalm 34:8, O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. We had fun finding each other’s names on the back of the shirts, where the seniors’ names are listed.

Another way seniors count down the days is the senior class party. The night of the party, the seniors, wearing their shirts, flooded into the Sports Center arena where our chaplain shared an encouraging verse. Once dismissed, my friends and I picked up our food and found a place to enjoy our meal. We took pictures of our food because it looked so mouthwatering.

After we finished our meal, my friends and I played badminton. It had been a very long time since I last played, so they literally had to re-teach me how to play. We hadn’t realized how much time had gone by until we saw that people were walking by with ice cream sundaes.

We returned the badminton stuff and rushed to get in line for the sundaes. I heaped my ice cream with chocolate and caramel syrup, strawberries, M&M’s, sprinkles, and whipped cream.

At midnight, we had barely finished eating our ice cream when the girls in my group went back to their rooms. I decided to stay with some of my other friends.

We enjoyed second helpings of ice cream sundaes while we played games such as Dutch Blitz, Uno, and pool. We also enjoyed listening to another senior play worship songs on the guitar. The worship songs pointed our attention back to God, reminding us that without Him, we would not have made it this far.

Before we realized how much time had passed, it was 2 a.m. and the Sports Center was closing. We gathered our stuff and took last minute pictures before heading back to our rooms to get some sleep. Even though our celebration was over, we still have work to complete while we continue counting down the days!
