More Than a Mascot

Sometimes, after a long day of classes, I'm tired. You all know how that feels. I trudge up the stairs to the Sports Center Arena to our Eagles volleyball practice, thinking about everything that I need to do. If you were to follow me, you could probably hear a big sigh escape as I open the door to the building. But then, the first thing I see as I enter are these words, taken from Isaiah 40:31: "They that wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles."

What an encouragement this verse is every time I see it! Often, as a college student, I get so caught up in my responsibilities that I forget that I don't have to do it alone. God promised that He will strengthen us and enable us to soar to heights that we could never reach on our own, accomplishing things we would have never thought possible. And let me tell you, at this point in the semester, sometimes finishing up can seem like an impossible feat.

If you keep an eye out for them, you can find eagles all over the PCC campus. Eagles frame the doors to the Sports Center Arena, eagles show up in various paintings in buildings, and, of course, eagles adorn the majority of our PCC clothing from the Campus Store. I haven't spotted any real eagles flying around yet, but every time I see either a picture or statue of an eagle, I'm reminded of God's promise to us. He is right there with us, waiting for us to look to Him for our strength.

As this semester begins to wrap up, let's remember to claim this promise of God for ourselves. Maybe all of those eagles around campus can serve as a reminder to you as well, that God will strengthen and help us accomplish what we need to for Him.
