Like a Chicken With Its Head Cut Off

You’ve heard the phrase “running around like a chicken with its head cut off,” but did you know that chickens who have had their heads cut off really can run around for a few minutes without a head? Don’t think about that too hard, it’s pretty disturbing.

With midterms upon us, it’s easy to become stressed and worried. We might feel like we are running around like the proverbial decapitated chicken—missing something very important and having no idea what is coming next. However, though we may be missing a few naps or an assignment that’s due, I have yet to see a student running around campus without a head!

Take a deep breath. Look around and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation. Listen to music. Pray and ask for peace and strength. We don’t have to be chickens with our heads cut off!
