Vote: Pick the best pic!

When we came back to school last semester, we were surprised to see a new section introduced on the Eagles Nest student home page and on the Campus Connection screens: the Featured Photos.

We’re sure many of you have browsed the photos at some point during the semester, but if you haven’t, you should give it a look!  (If you’re not on campus, come visit us and see!) It’s a compilation of photography captured by PCC students.  The photos vary—from beautiful scenic shots of the school campus to action-packed shots of our favorite Eagles basketball players, there is quite a variety.

Since the students are the heart of the Featured Photos, we decided to give you all a chance to vote for your favorite photo from last semester.

The top selections were narrowed down and placed into two categories: On-Campus photos and Off-Campus photos.

The top choices are listed below, so be sure to vote!

The winning photos will earn the distinction of “Photo of the Semester” and will be up for “Photo of the Year” in May.  We will be holding a similar vote at the end of this semester, so be sure to start submitting pictures for that contest.

Thank you to all who submitted photos last semester.  It’s added a fun flavor to the Eagle’s Nest page—the flavor of you the students!  Now it’s up to you guys to decide.   May the best photo win!

(To our off-campus readers: you are definitely also invited to vote for your favorite. And if you come visit us, be sure to notice the other pictures that go up throughout the semester!)

Voting will be open until Monday, February 13, at 8:00 a.m.

Question: Why are scenic, postcard-like shots the only photos that were chosen to be voted on? Personally, I believe that “since the students are the heart of the Featured Photos,” they should also be FEATURED in the photos to be voted on…

      Hi Rachel.

Great question. We tried to pick what we thought were the three best on-campus photos. While we were narrowing down the pictures to choose from, several of them did have students in them. It was hard to choose only three, but we finally decided on the ones that we thought displayed the greatest photographic talent. We were primarily focusing on the quality of the photo, not whether there were students in the picture or not.

      Thanks for the question!

I remember that beautiful rainbow last semester, and I wished I had a picture of it. Then I saw it on the Featured Photos. Thanks for taking it, Sara!

How do I actually cast a vote for a photograph? I see the finalists listed but no option to vote. Help!
