College Life

Food, Fun, and Friends

Campus Post Blog Four WindsJust ask any PCC student where some of the best memories on campus are made, and they are likely to tell you, “Dinner time at Four Winds!” Everyone looks forward to unwinding after a long day of classes (during the semester) and work (during the summer), and coming together for a hearty meal and a great time of fellowship. It is not uncommon to see a group of friends crowded around a “six seater” animatedly discussing the events of the day, or making plans to hang out at the Sports Center later on.  And it’s true that many linger until the last second before the dining room closes, enjoying each other’s company and not wanting to leave. But that’s only one side of the story.

Campus Post Blog Four WindsThese past few weeks, I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand the outstanding supervisors, cooks, servers, dishwashers, and dining room attendants who make Four Winds the great place that it is.  These people work hard before, after and during mealtimes to ensure that there is plenty of fresh, hot food for hungry college kids and all the many other little things that it takes to operate a school cafeteria. But there’s a lot more to it than hard work; just as many good memories and friends are made on the other side of the serving lines as there are out in the dining room.  We laugh and joke our way throughout the day, until the time comes to send the stragglers home and close up shop for the evening.
