College Life

New Dawn, New Day, New Year

We’ve made it! Well, what I mean to say is that we went from January 1st to December 31st of 2016, and we’re still here living life. For many of us, 2016 was a year when we faced new life experiences, some a little more grand than others. Freshmen had their first semester at college, I got to cast my first vote, my roommate had her first peer teaching, my best friend was in her first dramatic production, and my boyfriend ate his first olive (I know, I was shocked too).

Some of us may also have some regrets. Maybe we didn’t do as well as we should have in a class, or we weren’t as faithful in our devotions and prayer life as we should have been. Even though 2016 may be a year of mixed feelings about our events, we know that God is always faithful. As the prophet Jeremiah wrote in Lamentations 3:22–23, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Let’s bring in the New Year with renewed strength and passion, remembering that God’s compassion for us is there every dawn, every morning, every year.

Happy 2017!
