5 Ways to Enhance Your Collegian Experience

14311443_1176776732378545_678585300371819858_oCollegian life is one of my favorite aspects of Pensacola Christian College! There are so many different ways to get involved. Pairing up with Samantha's post, Beyond the Classroom, here are just a few ways to enjoy your collegian experience just a bit more:

1.) Meet new people.

This is probably my favorite thing about collegian life. You are able to meet people that you might not have met. It doesn’t matter your year or your major: you have something in common. Branch out from your friend group and try to meet someone new every meeting. You won’t regret it!

2.) Use your unique talents to benefit the collegian.

Let’s face it. None of us are exactly like someone else—for which I am extremely thankful, because that would be boring. That is brought out through collegian life. Some are good at playing sports, at being an encouragement, at organizing events, at playing instruments, or at being artsy. If you would want to be involved in some way, there is always a place for you.

3.) Help plan an exciting outing for your collegian.

Each collegian goes on a members-only outing each year. There are many different places/activities to choose from. A few years ago, my collegian went snorkeling and ate the most amazing pizza! It's not required, but it's a great way to get to know the other people in your collegian better.

4.) Make unforgettable memories.

I have laughed uncontrollably until my sides hurt with my fellow collegian members. Christmas caroling with my collegian always brings about crazy stories that we still talk about often. I strongly encourage you to get together with your collegian for activities that they may host.

5.) Campaign for a position of leadership.

Each semester, collegians hold an election for who will be the next president, vice president, secretary, league representative, athletic director, chaplain, and song leader. (Availability of some of those positions depends on your classification.) It is an excellent way to help others and gain leadership skills.

You are not required to do anything in your collegian; you just have to show up. But you will get out of it what you put into it. By jumping into the action, you will have the opportunity to help shape your collegian to be the best it can be. You won't regret it!
