The Best Medicine

LaughterYou’ve probably heard the saying, “Laughter is the best medicine.” I don’t know about you, but I love to laugh with people! You know the pain that you get in your side from laughing too hard? Best feeling ever! Believe it or not, every person truly does want to smile, and I’m not talking about that half real smile you give to someone you don’t know well enough to really say “hi.”

A good attitude is vital to a healthy life. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” Taking a few extra minutes out of your day to make someone smile isn’t only helping them; it is helping you, too. A random compliment to someone can make their whole day. It also makes your day because you know that you were able to bring a smile to someone's face.

Be willing to laugh at yourself. My mom once told me a story of two little girls at their friend’s birthday party.  The first little girl had spent hours picking out the perfect outfit to impress her friends. But at the birthday party, she spilled something on her dress, and it made a little stain. That incident ruined her mood for hours! The second little girl had taken time to pick out her outfit as well, but once at the party, she accidentally spilled a drink on herself. Instead of being all upset, she simply smiled and laughed about it then continued on enjoying herself. You can choose to handle frustrating situations like the first girl or like the second.

Attitude changes everything! Adding some smiles to your day will make a difference!
