Does Your Light Shine, Only in the Light?

While I was reading my Bible recently, I found this verse—2 Timothy 2:2. It really challenged me.

"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

Although this verse was written specifically from Paul to Timothy, we can all learn much from it. I was meditating on this verse when I went to Mission Prayer Band. The speaker stood up and said, "Please turn in your Bibles to 2 Timothy 2:2."

To make a long story short, the Lord really worked on my heart. He showed me that everything I learn from God, from my teachers, from my parents, and from friends is entrusted to me so I can grow, and then so I could share it with others.

Recently, I have realized how much I cover up the light God has given me. In the past, I would size people up when I met them. If they seemed spiritual, I would talk about God around them. If they didn't, I would minimize how much I talked about God.

This was a grave mistake.

I would like to encourage you, don't hold back. Share what God has taught you. Mention Him to your roommates, to friends at meals, maybe even to that random person in the elevator. I promise you, you will have an effect on those around you. We must live our lives as a testimony of God's love. A light isn’t much use if it only shines where light already exists.

Be a light that shines in the darkness!
