Don’t Quit

Earlier this semester, we had a preacher who told us of a message he once heard in high school. “Don’t quit!” the preacher had said with tears streaming down his cheeks. “Don’t quit.” As the story goes, the man repeated “Don’t quit!” over and over again until he closed up his Bible and went back to his seat. He hadn’t said much that day, but it left an impact on our preacher, and through him it also made an impact on all present for that chapel message.

Now as we enter into the second half of our semester-- don’t quit. It would be extremely easy for those who aced the first half of the semester to just slide through knowing that you are already going to pass. Or for those who failed the first half it would be even easier to simply give up and go home. However, that is not what God has called us to do. In Colossians 3: 23 it says, “and whatsoever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord.”

Going to classes day in and day out can be hard and often tempting to quit when there seems to be no end in sight. But keep going, and do it unto God. One of the teachers informed me that often, the greater percentages of points we earn during the semester are received after midterms so if you are discouraged about your grades, no matter what, don’t quit. While it may seem that there is no point to keep working hard, keep going! Do all of your work heartily as unto the Lord, and no matter what-- Don’t quit.
