Midterms ended… Now what?

After a busy first half of the semester and midterm examinations, I was ready for a little break. God knew that I not only needed a break from classes but needed spiritual refreshment as well. What better way to do that than to have a Bible Conference! This year’s Bible Conference was absolutely amazing! We had 5 men of God preach a total of 11 sermons over the course of 3 days. Talk about some spiritual food! It was just what God knew I needed. One of the biggest challenges to me was hearing Dr. Raymond Barber, who has been in the ministry for over 60 years, quote chapters of scripture by memory. Dr. Clyde Box preached from Mark 4:35-41 about getting to the back of the boat where Jesus is. I needed to hear that. Jesus is always with us, and He can calm any storm in our lives if we will get to the back of the boat. I wish I had time to talk about all of the speakers in detail, but this post would be way too long. The other speakers were Dr. Scott Tewell, Dr. Jerald Manley, and Dr. Joel Mullenix.

There was also a play on Friday afternoon. The play this year was John Milton’s Paradise Lost. I had the amazing opportunity to be part of this production. Mr. Abran Miller was the director, and it was about the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. It was such a blessing to see what Jesus Christ has done for us and to be reminded of how Satan is a defeated foe. I feel very humbled to have had a part in this great production. The cast was great to work with, and I believe the Lord was glorified through drama once again at PCC. If you love God and love drama like I do, I can think of no better place for you to come than Pensacola Christian College where Jesus Christ is lifted high above all else. It is such a blessing to be here!

You’re right, Chris! It was an amazing Bible Conference! The picnic was great, but the spiritual food was even better.

And I loved watching “Paradise Lost.” My favorite part was when Jesus asked His Father to be the Intercessor for the fallen couple. What redemption! What love! Praise the Lord for His redeeming mercy that continues to spare us every day. 🙂

I am so excited to begin my freshman year at PCC this fall ! I cannot wait to see what the Lord has planned for my life and I love the college so much . I love plays so I am looking forward to all the activities that will be taking place on campus . I home school using the A Beka videos, so I am also looking forward to coming down to the college to graduate in May 🙂

Bible Conference was very exciting! My favorite preacher was Clyde Box, and I love one of his messages in particular. He found an incredible way to bring out the message of the gospel in a geneology! The Holy Spirit really spoke to my heart. I also loved Paradise Lost. I’ve never read the book, so it was fascinating to see such a story come to life. If it weren’t for Christ, we’d all be sinners without a Savior! Praise the Lord for his love.

I really enjoyed Dr. Clyde Box!!! He is one of my favorite speakers that has come here!! He is not only a great preacher, but also one of the cutest old grandfather type of preachers I’ve ever seen!!!

I loved the Bible Conference as well!!! 😀 Sometimes it is hard to put God #1 when you are so busy studying for midterms. That is why Bible Conference is very good and extremely uplifting. Many of the sermons really picked up my spirits and helped me to get a fresh start on the rest of this semester. God greatly blessed the speakers and I am forever grateful to them for coming. 🙂 May God bless everyone as you finish out this year…..Finish Strong! 😀

I’m just sad that Dr. Box didn’t use his apple juice story!

Yeah I know. I kept waiting for him to tell it.

This was my first Bible Conference here at PCC. I really enjoyed it! I even got to go to the beach one day! The messages were all great!:) I also loved the production of Paradise Lost! I love representations of famous stories from the Bible!:) (hope to be in one of them soon!:))

Agreed! The Bible Conference messages and Paradise Lost came when they were most needed and really ministered to the student body. Praise the Lord for HIS bountiful blessings!

Perhaps I’m wrong, but didn’t Jesus calm the storm despite the fact that Peter DIDN’T stay in the boat? Either this was horrible hermenutics, or perhaps you’re remembering it incorrectly?

    • Miriam, you are thinking of a different passage. You can notice in Christopher’s post that this sermon was about Mark 4; the passage you mentioned is Matthew 14, a different story.

Mr. Abran Miller did a fantastic job producing Paradise Lost! I cannot think of anyhting he could have done to improve on its… “epic-ness”!!! And I was very pleased to see how well he emphasized the Lord’s redemption of fallen man. And the defeat of Satan! How wonderful!!

Abran, I was honored that I could be of service to your audio for the production!
